Tell us a bit about your professional background and studies before Tong... Tong High School is my fourth school and I have spent four or five years in each of my previous schools. Each time I moved, I moved for a promotion and left behind me an improving school. In my last post I was lucky enough to work with, and learn from, a very experienced and effective headteacher called David Lack with whom I was able to share some of the headteacher duties and benefit from some expert training for this job. The main thing I learnt in this role is that if you work as a team anything is possible. In that school we rapidly improved results and, in two years, moved the school from special measures to one that was judged “Good with outstanding leadership” by OFSTED.
‘Other hats’ (what do you enjoy or think you are particularly good at besides your role?) In my spare time I love spending time with my family, I have four young children who run me ragged! I hope, therefore, at least some of the time, I’m a good dad.
