The Governing Body is the ‘critical friend’ of the school and, as such, seeks to ensure that we fulfil our aims and objectives and meet statutory requirements. It consists of volunteers: parents, staff representatives, Local Authority members and governors from the local community.
Governors have a key role in working with school staff to oversee curriculum policies, appoint staff, manage the care and maintenance of the building, monitor grounds and equipment, approve the budget and consult on the BSF project and school sports specialism.
Governors also work closely with our Senior Leadership Team to create a longer term Strategic Development Plan for the school and an annual School Improvement Plan. They are involved with the self evaluation processes of the school and receive regular updates and information from a range of staff including Curriculum Leaders, Student Prgress Leaders, the Director of Business and other colleagues who have items of celebration or success to share.
The full Governing Body meets termly but there are also working groups and committees which deal with issues in detail. There is a comprehensive training programme which Governors are able to access to keep themselves up to date with educational legislation and developments. Governors also oversee the Annual School Profile which is posted on the website and is available to parents on request.
The dates of the Governors’ meetings are advertised at the beginning of each term through the school calendar on the school website.
