Website Consultation

Thanks to everyone who took the time to complete the online survey about Tong’s website – we’ve had a great response.

If you filled it in on Monday (16th) or Tuesday (17th) – please send an email titled ‘Confirmation’ to thsego@ths.bradford.sch.uk to let us know you have completed it, as we experienced a technical fault which meant we were not able to capture your details during this period.

Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be reviewing your feedback and developing plans to improve the site. As part of this, we are organising a series of focus groups for students, staff and parents so we can find out even more about what you would like to see on an improved Tong website – if you would like to be a part of this please email thsjbs@ths.bradford.sch.uk

Bradford Schools Sport Enterprise – Carnegie Schools Rugby Tournament – Round 2

Castleford Academy vs Tong High School

Year 7

On Thursday 15th December Tong High School’s Year 7 Rugby Team made the trip down the M62 to take on an experienced side Castleford Academy in the 2nd round of the Carnegie Schools Tournament.

Tong started the game well with some powerful running from Daniel, Jordan and Cameron who all tested the Castleford defence. Callum’s excellent defence ensured some early runs from Castleford didn’t gain many metres.

With Tong looking strong Luke took advantage of an unaware Castleford defence and made a darting run from dummy half, unfortunately Luke was the victim of a big tackle from the Castleford team resulting in him having to leave the field, from this point Tong seemed to lose their direction and momentum which allowed Castleford’s experience and skill to push them forward.

A series of tries followed from the Castleford side but Tong kept positive and Tong Full Back Ben ensured a number of Castleford breaks were short lived with a range of superb try saving tackles. Tong trailed at the break 20-0.

The second half didn’t start well for Tong with a testing Castleford kick off that lead to a Tong error; a Castleford player reacted quickly pouncing on the loose ball and followed this up with a powerful run to see Castleford raise the score. Unfortunately Tong saw very little of the ball with Castleford showing their class and following up their strong start with some well-orchestrated tries. Tong’s Captain Sam lead by example throughout the game never giving up with his strong defence and testing runs.”"

A Castleford knock on saw Tong have their first real opportunity of the second half which allowed them to push up field and receive a penalty for a Castleford high tackle. A tremendous run from Daniel saw him push through the opposing defence and taking over several players for what appeared to be a well-deserved consolation try, unfortunately for Tong the referee ruled a knock on.

The game finished 46-0 in favour of a well deserving Castleford side.

Tong’s man of the match was Sam followed closely by Ben , Daniel and Cameron .
